Build Understanding, Trust, and Connection

Strengthen your relationship with guidance that helps you communicate, reconnect, and grow together. Available in-person or online.

Couples therapy can help you:

  • Improve communication and emotional understanding

  • Rebuild trust and intimacy

  • Navigate conflict in healthy, respectful ways

  • Deepen connection and shared purpose

What Is Couples Therapy?

Couples therapy creates a safe, balanced space where both partners can be heard and understood. It’s not about taking sides; it’s about learning to listen, communicate, and support one another more effectively. Whether you’re facing ongoing conflict, emotional distance, or major life changes, therapy helps you rediscover the strengths in your partnership.

By understanding each partner’s needs and patterns, couples therapy provides tools to repair disconnection, rebuild trust, and create a stronger foundation for the future.

Why Choose Couples Therapy?

Even strong relationships experience strain from stress, miscommunication, or unmet needs. Couples therapy offers the structure and support to move forward together. It can help you:

  • Communicate more clearly and effectively

  • Rebuild emotional and physical intimacy

  • Resolve recurring conflicts with respect and empathy

  • Navigate transitions such as parenting, relocation, or career changes

  • Strengthen teamwork and a shared sense of purpose

Our Approach

At Healthridge, couples counseling is tailored to the needs of each relationship. Our providers draw from a variety of evidence-informed and experiential approaches, including Relational Life Therapy from Terry Real, structured assessments such as PREPARE/ENRICH, techniques from Hakomi and somatic psychology, and other modalities that support communication, connection, and growth.

Sessions may include:

  • Learning tools for conflict resolution and repair

  • Guided communication exercises to increase understanding

  • Identifying negative cycles that block closeness

  • Building emotional safety and shared connection

  • Exploring each partner’s deeper needs and values

Our therapists help couples move from reactive patterns toward more empathy, collaboration, and love. Each session focuses on strengthening the bond you share, one conversation at a time.

What to Expect in Sessions

Your first sessions will clarify your goals and the challenges that brought you to counseling. From there, you’ll begin practicing communication skills, gaining emotional awareness, and learning new ways of relating. As counseling progresses, you’ll notice greater ease, respect, and appreciation between you.

Sessions typically last longer than standard individual therapy to allow both partners to fully engage and make meaningful progress together.

Insurance and Billing

Healthridge typically does not bill insurance for couples counselingOur approach treats the relationship itself as the primary client rather than either individual partner. Because of this perspective, and because sessions often extend beyond one hour to allow for deeper engagement, couples counseling is generally not billed to insurance.

To make couples counseling more accessible, we offer a sliding scale for those who qualify. This approach allows our therapists to focus fully on your relationship’s growth while providing high-quality care in a way that is flexible and affordable.
