Tim Hughes Williams, LMSW

Tim Hughes Williams, Maryland therapist offering virtual therapy for anxiety, trauma, and identity work.

Tim Hughes Williams (he/him/his) is a Licensed Master Social Worker who earned his degree from Rutgers University School of Social Work. In a safe environment where bravery, vulnerability and truth-telling are encouraged, Tim helps clients navigate complex questions of identity, relationship, and vocation. Tim uses relational and psychodynamic approaches to therapy, exploring significant relationships and their underlying dynamics. His work is rooted in values of justice and liberation and is LGBTQIA-affirming. He believes that there is remarkable power in deeper understandings of the body-mind connection and much of his current training is focused there.

Tim specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, and trauma. He often works with men’s issues, questions of spiritual identity and abuse, and members of the LBGTQ+ community. He believes that becoming an integrated, authentic and wholehearted person doesn't happen overnight, but that the benefits of this work are enormous. Anxiety, depression, and addictive behaviors are often symptomatic of underlying issues that can be surfaced with a trusted therapist.

Tim accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield/Carefirst and Cigna Insurance. He also accepts self-payment and is happy to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Sliding scale fees are available upon request. Tim currently offers only telehealth appointments. Please contact him to learn more about his services and whether he might be a good fit!
